They say nothing about the type of radiation, what levels we are expected to see, and then they recommend getting a Geiger counter. Why? Sea weed concentrates naturally? occurring radioactive isotopes in exactly the same way that bananas concentrate sodium40 and tobacco concentrates polonium210. The natural background in many parts of the world is more than your seaweed. There is no health problem, you are just discovering what has always been there. Brilliant. I've already started creating some sounds? and I'm going to run them through some filters and record them. Makes for great IDM samples. I like the versatility that comes with the randomizer, as it allows me to break down the entire sequence into just two or three notes if I like. What I find interesting is that no matter what sequence I choose, there is always a random aspect, meaning the melody changes up instead of looping the exact phrase. Anybody know why that is?

Are you serious? That beach is more radioactive than Chernobyl? Wow! Anyway, I walked to a beach the other day that had black sand like the stuff you're showing here. Its called Squibnocket here on Martha's Vineyard. The Gamma Scout registered a little elevated (normal? island seems around .08 -.12 uSv/hr). This beach was about .17, but the next beach over registered around .451 uSv/hr, which isn't a big increase but was interesting to see it consistent in that area of beach.

cancer treatments are a large dose onto the tumor at once, typically 1-2 gray within minutes, re-applied 3-5 days a week until approx. 50-75 gray have been applied. this low dose therapy, i'd assume not to be effective against cancer that is already present, but it COULD, i repeat, COULD (not a fact) be helpful against eradicating pre-cancerous stages (fast-dividing cells = mutated cells). to me, hormesis is quite plausible. however, i need? to do more research...

about one or two chest x-rays within 30 minutes; depends on your x-ray machine. however, it also exposes your gonads etc., so it's a different story... but i know "chest x-ray" is generally? used as a comparison - for transatlantic flights, too, for example. as for chernobyl, as i've read, the gamma equivalent dose in the exclusion zone will be largely BELOW the reading on the beach here. ah well, i'll go and find out about chernobyl myself soon. =)

It just keeps getting worse and worse. The contamination zones are ever widening, and more and more people are exposed to the terrible risks. Remove the sesium tainted water? To where? I want to make a very naive statement: I wish that we could begin dismantling nuclear power plants all over the world, until there are none left. Even with all the combined Knowledge on this planet we can't get rid of Radiation. Saddening that Island going to be turned into one big glowing waste area. Maybe they should shut down all of Japan and make that a New storage sight for the worlds radioactive waste that is created from Nuclear plants that we are told that are clean energy... .Until we look at the waste then they seem not to clean anymore. @MiranUT: Hi & thanks for responding! :oD Basing the decision on current nurse's training & updated info...but yes, in this case I definitely intend to visit. Can't imagine not getting to Japan - a long time dream. And depending on a few factors, when I go, I may do some volunteer? work with one of the medical groups. Looking @ 2012.
