Don't use 9v batteries... they're horrible, low energy and expensive. Just use a regular 12v wall wart or some universal dc adapter on which you can cut the jack off. Even a 7.5v-9v will do, the fan will spin fast enough. Don't use a linear? regulator to get 12v out of 18v, the difference gets converted to HEAT, so you're dissipating about 1-2 watts into the metal case... pointless waste of energy and you heat up everything.

these project were awesome and creative, I myself just started? with electronics i'm still pretty new to it I am learning that and the micro controllers and I'm glad to say my first one was a Arduino Uno and its absolutely amazing its flexible you can pretty much do anything on it that is simple until it gets past its 18 volts threshold then it becomes a little more difficult like the guy who had the shift registers. happy inventing everyone props for the people in the video

I gently used a Dremel (well, a cheap imitation one) fitted with a tiny drum sander? bit to clean up the holes in the outer cube. Then I half-inched (stole in rhyming slang) one of my girlfriend's emery boards and cleaned up the inner cube while watching TV.
