Awesome vid! I'd love to take a class from Clint. I do agree about the comment about the squib load? - maybe he addresses this later in the course. I was a timer in a steel match a few years back when I newbie shooter was running into all kinds of problems - he was running an older POS Kimber. I didn't feel comfortable telling this poor guy to just "beat the snot out of it" without really understanding the problems. I'm sure Clint would have kicked him into shape, though.

One nit I'll pick is CS making fun of the "scholars," who inspect the gun instead of just tap-racking it back into service. At the range you are under no imminent-loss-of-life time constraints, so I'd go ahead and "boogabooga" with the gun and make sure the barrel isn't obstructed. Having a KB? while somebody is trying to kill you is one thing; having it while at the practice range is just a shame. So watch out for squibs... don't ignore malfunctions unless the situation dictates it.

Is it a 1911? Older '11s are known to have problems here and there with double feeds and type-2 malfunctions (failure to eject spent brass) due to the small ejection port. A good gunsmith can tune your pistol up and greatly increase its reliability if this is? the case, and I recommend you do as reliability is VERY important especially for home defense!

I don't know how or where you got your information, but you are wrong. Press? Maravich(Pete's Father) was born in Alliquippa, Pennsylvania as was Pete. Press's first coaching job was West Virginia Weslyan in the 1949-1950 season. Then coached at a number of schools throughout the 50s and 60's including Clemson and LSU, where Pete actually played for his dad in the late 1960s. Do a little research.

Thanks for posting this video up. I've never shot a handgun in my whole life until the other day at my firearm test. I failed it because my aiming and grip. I basically went it? without any knowledge of how to shoot a gun with good accuracy because the security academy didn't cover that part. So I was just shooting like a newbie and failed. But then I still got a retest this weekend so I'm goin to try this grip to see if it'll improve my grip.

There was a revolution in shooting in the 80's. Most people don't realize it but a lot of what is seen today stems from that. Red dot sights, hi capacity 1911's, tons of accessories and modifications - not just handguns, rifles and shtoguns too. While this is well and good ultimately whoever is shooting should have a grip that feels comfortable to them, not forced. I have been shooting handguns for 30 years and that dual thumbs up? grip is never comfortable to me, you don't have full closure of your grip around the gun and has potential in getting your weak thumb sliced or pinched by the slide during recoil. I never understood why this grip was invented recently when people have been successfully shooting with other grips for decades.

Great video. I'll try this? way out in the future! I was taught differently in the British Army to use the supporting hand underneath the magazine / grip. I found it ok, yet later learned that if there's a breech issue (failure to go into battery) the magazine can potentially fly out and badly maim your supporting hand!

That's because you are putting pressure on the gun with your support hand. Your thumb doesn't need to even touch the gun. You certainly don't want it exerting force on it. Thanks for the video! I'm planniing on purchasing my first pistol and i know i have a lot to learn. I can't count the times i've shot at various ranges (renting guns and shooting with friend's guns) and no one has corrected me when shooting. I've asked, of course,? and everyone seems to have their own opinion. This one definitly makes the most logical sense though. Appreciate the knowledge and happy shooting!

I purchased two Ruger Sr22 Pistols, one for my wife and one for my daughter. They are for protection and for recreational shooting. After seeing this video and seeing Jeff's Grandson shot it with out any trouble. I knew this was the pistol for us. Jeff, I waited three? months to get my SR22, and today 4/27/12 I shot it for the first time. Due to my poor eyesight I'm not much of a marksman, but at 35 feet I shot consistently inside a 6" circle target. My first set of 10 shots showed 3 inside the 2" ring with two of those nicking the bull's eye. My second set showed 5 inside the 2" ring and the rest inside the 4" ring. I couldn't be more surprised! This little pistol is extremely accurate.? THIS LITTLE GUN MADE MY DAY. Thanks

Nice review, sir. And an excellent beard. I do not understand why some of these gun makers insist on putting large logos on their handguns. Ruger did it with this one, and Taurus is? probably the worst offender. The engraved logo on the Raging Bull is so large you can see it from space! I don't need to advertise for gun makers. That's what I like about my Smith revolvers, and my HK/Glock/Kahr too. Just kinda looks tacky to have a large engraved logo.

Finally just got my SR22 Jeff, after waiting three months for my local Academy to get them in. I have not shot it yet, but I love the build and I think my gal is going to like it a lot too because it's about the same size as my Bersa Thunder 380 that we both like very much. Ruger simply does it right, just like Browning does with their designs. The mag is pretty sloppy in the well, but? that's a minor gripe. I'm excited. THANKS for your always excellent reviews Jeff. i have one i have done a little work to make it better true. But i have done that with almost every gun i have, for the price i think its well worth the money, cause i dont want to spend a lot of money on a gun that i just toss in my truck or where ever i am. it accurate i can put all 8 shots in a coke can at 35 yards with no problem my wife can shoot it and? hit with it. and its got enough power to stop someone, I think there are guns that are much worse that cost more

where's the proof it jams so often? The only thing I have heard bad is that the flanges on the top of the magazines may need some adjustment.? But it's not the gun itself. Also it's ~$150. Comparing a gun at that price point to another at 400+ is just fucking stupid. Maybe point to some other better gun at the same basic price and there's a conversation worth having.
