Mike, since i watched this video the first time, I quit smoking. In April I had a spell of pneumonia and nearly died. While in the hospital, I told my husband to get rid of the cigarettes, ashtrays, lighters because I was ready to quit. I said, "I HAVE to, it's killing me, honey." He's been such a sweetheart, so supportive and gives me the inspiration to stay quit. I won't lie. It's a battle of? willpower every day. Not a day goes by that I don't want a cigarette. But I know I'll win!!

Also remember that if your are young in your 20,30,40 and even 50's your COPD can also be cause by Alpha-1 Antitsypsin Disease. I have Alpha-1 and found out at 43 years old. I? am a 22 year old female and I've just been diagnosed with COPD. I've never smoked a day in my life, nor do I have friends or family that smoke. Things got rapidly worse for me starting in October. I am happy to say after some simple treatments I? just spent my 1st winter without even so much as a cold! I still only breath at 1/2 the capacity that I should but I don't notice it. Thanks!

My neighbor had asthma as a child and started smoking in the seventh grade. By high school he was a heavy smoker spending all of his money on cigarettes. After high school he got a job as a truck driver and moved up to five packs a day. By his late thirties he was getting pretty sick and cut down to over two packs a day of filtered cigarettes.? I could never figure out where he got the money. I never saw anybody smoke so much in my life. I? even remember him smoking while eating a cheeseburger. Today his chest is a medical exhibit. I figured he'd smoked over a million cigs when he died.

I watched all of you videos and watched Part 2 again. You do much better in the other videos but in the Part 2 video you are clearly getting little oxygen from your canula because you are mouth breathing in big inhales, and each time you inhale you right shoulder rises in the view, a clear sign of chest breathing. The reason for my very hard work in Pulmo Rehab was due to my concerns regarding a growing Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm that required surgery before it burst. My Pulmonary Specialistg would not approve surgery due to my poor lung function - could put me to sleep but could not wake me up again. MY LIFE DEPENDED ON LUNG FUNCTION IMPROVEMENT. I watch all of you videos I could find, from the start + Parts 2, 3, 5 & &. I suggest you look at Part 2 again and watch your shoulders rise at every inhale. You do much better and proper breathing on the other videos. But you consistently inhale with an open mouth most of the time - not a good example. You act like I don't know the suffereing. When COPD hit me hard after 55 years of heavy? smoking, I was on Oxygen 24/7. My lung function was only 42%. With hard rebab I increased it to 84%

The actual demonstration shows none of what you say. It is obvious you didn't watch the entire video. Before you make comments like this you should at least have the courtesy to watch it all the way through no matter how painful it is for you. What I see is a demonstrator with an oxygen canula in his nose and taking large inhales through his MOUTH - no oxygen gain there! I also see his shoulders? heave up when taking a large inhale, instead of diaphram breathing. When doesn't he practice what he preathes? He's simply a bad example.

Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease or COPD is a major cause of death for heavy smokers. The onset of the disease can be insidious and is often underdiagnosed until it reaches a more advanced stage. i was told i had copd at age of 35,i couldnt believe it when doctor me that i had it , i had a? wondeful friend and uncle who died that copd they both smoked til the end,i am trying to quit myself thank you so much for posting this videos

COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease) is really any chronic lung disease that restricts the airflow to and from the lungs making it difficult to breathe. This includes, but is not limited to, Emphysema, Chronic Bronchitis, and? Asthma.

I would not recomend it. It relaxes the body and causes your breathing to become too shallow. This could lead to less oxygen getting to your lungs and even less CO2 (carbon dioxide) being exhaled. Another thing too is you have to consider what medication you may be taking. If you or a loved one is being treated for depression then the answer is? a resounding no. Speak with your doctor first to see what he/she has to say.

hi dear, ya know when i first went? on o2 4 yrs ago they never did any ofthis with me at all , , and i am a nurse, but worked in nicu for 15 yrs and it amazes me, i have learned more from u in 20 minutes than from years of having copd and nothing from any one on the team of my care, but like i said before no more insurance, no team.. your awesome. i dream of not gasping to get som air ... i really hate it, ty again your a angel for doing these.

In yoga they call this "Ujjaya Breath." I do yoga, running, aerobics, dance, weight training, etc. The sad? thing is I've also smoked these past 10 years and my breathing is way out of control. I go about a week without smoking and then something- anything will trigger an impulse and then I'm bug-eyed and hunched over and trying to yawn all over again.

Does anyone? else feel like me that you can only get a good breath of air when you yawn? Sometimes singing helps me too, I think because it keeps the air inside longer?
