I'm not so sure the fossilsaurs? need to worry about environmentalists using the baby drilling disaster in the gulf . Environmentalists just worn the public about stuff that isn't obvious, like potential for oil spills. Fossilsaurs may need to look out for angry fishermen. Energy: Quantify fortune and how it was "wasted". My bet is that you can't Pipeline, that goes right over one of the largest aquifers in the US. Global temperatures are cooler now than they have been at many times in Earth's history. @Hofsteder That has been completely disproven. The overal trend for the past 1700 years is cooling. The warmign alarmists got caught red handed again this summer. They were claiming heat records being broken when those days were far below their records. Turns out they were using the heat index (Temp and Humidity) agaist the record temp. Only .02% (that is 2 hundredths not 2 percent) of? temp stations had records.

I'm not saying we're not causing global warming. What I'm saying is the science hasn't established that fact yet. The oceans absorb a lot of CO2. It mixes with sea water and then dissolved calcium in the water and falls to the ocean floor in small particles that look like light snow. This goes on constantly. One of the reasons that the earth is warming is because there has been very little volcanic activity in the last 150 years? and the air is becoming much cleaner for lack of soot.

global warming is real, there is solid data to prove it, but the controversy is whether or not humans are the cause of it. in the past, paleoclimatologists have observed that there is global warming and cooling, but they can't rely on climate change patterns to make predictions on future climate change cuz it's change is too random. that's why estimations of how long we have to survive are primitive and tangible. all in all, global warming is in fact REAL, we're just unsure? of our impact on it

When he makes that point arguing about religion he's referring to someone's decision to, say, hold their belief 'just in case' god exists, despite having seen no evidence whatsoever. There is, however, overwhelming, but not absolute, proof of? global warming, so he's weighing the facts then concluding we should act cautiously, he's not using a principle at all, just analysis. There might be some inconsistency by campaigners but that doesn't make Hitchens a hypocrite.

Then the cautionary principle is not the argument and shouldn't be used if its a case of cause and effect. The irony of the precautionary? principle is that it is internally inconsistent. Environmental groups opposed nuclear power which increased coal fired power stations demand and resulted in increased CO2 emissions. This is a simple demonstration that discounting the benefits of not taking the chosen direction and accepting all things have a negative aspect is a main cause for its disrepute.

Surely there's a distinction between cautionary principle and cautionary action? Global warming shouldn't be a matter of principle, it's one of cause and effect. I hardly think it's feeble of him to suggest we take precautions when we're not sure about the cause and the world is at stake, especially after conceding that he's basing it on the advice of better informed? people....it's just sensible.

You are currently suggesting facts that go against the science, so where is your evidence? Provide one peer reviewed article that backs your claim. Please explain your "scam". If you're so convinced, perhaps you should move from "an arid land". There may well be a slight increase in temps over the next century as a result of human activities, but the net effect will not be the catastrophe that the alarmists failed to scare us into. Instead it's more likely to be an overall? improvement in our ability to grow cops in higher latitudes, fewer deaths from cold, better plant growth. There's a reason why nobody talks much about global warming anymore. It's a scam.

maybe its because I live in an arid land that I can readily see out my window record heat and less rainfall year in year out changing in unison with the output of 7 billion large highly industrialized mammal. I dont see how you read the science but disagree with the scientists. The math on low Co2 changes having an amplified effect have been explained too, despite your assertion that its? irrelevant.
