This hurts, however you should really try to improve hygiene while doing this, wear rubber gloves and wipe down the area with some alcohol first, so that opening the wound up doesn't get bacteria in it which would cause another infection, then use a sterile blade ( either a scalpel or a razorblade ) to gently make a slight cut over the top of the infection? just deep? enough to give yourself an opening, itll hurt a lot less when you can drain the infection, I speak from experience.
